Winter Olympics 2010

Well, this week is full of so many exciting things that it is easy to come up with bento ideas! I am hoping the weather does not mean snow days this week!

In looking for ideas for a Winter Olympics bento I discovered the mascots. They are very silly looking and I knew they had to go in the bento!


Olympic mascots Miga, Quatchi, and Sumi are made of cheese and food colors and sit on top of a peanut butter sandwich. a strip of cucumber separates the sandwich from checkered apple, carrots, grapes, and a strawberry

Starfish Loves You!!!!

This one may need a little explaining :D There are some videos on YouTube called Charlie the Unicorn. Charlie is a sad unicorn that keeps being tricked! In the 3rd video they are underwater and a goat/seal is singing to Charlie about how the sea creatures love him. Apparently the Starfish REALLY loves him because it keeps interrupting with it's extreme love. It's funny :)

Kidlet has a starfish made from cheese and food coloring on top of peanut butter and honey. On the side are checkered apple, clemetines, grapes, and cucumber.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Looks like the silly Groundhog has seen it's shadow! Of course we woke up to fresh snow so his prediction of 6 more weeks of winter seems accurate.

Kidlet gets a cheese groundhog on top of a peanut butter and honey sandwich. On the side are checkered apple, grapes, and pineapple skewer.

I once again used food coloring and a paint brush instead of the markers. I really like the smoothness of this method. I need a tiny paintbrush tho because these lines are a little misshapen.

Badtz Maru

There have been a lot of cute penguin bento going around this week :D So here is mine, in keeping with the Sanrio theme we have the penguin Badtz Maru!


Badtz Maru is cheese on top of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Along the side are pretzels, checkered apple, grapes, and a clemetine wedge.

I have been looking for a black food coloring marker that will work on cheese for a long time. Never have I found one. *sigh* But I really wanted to do this bento! And he wouldn't look right as blue or green. So I took a little jar of black food color paste that was basically out of gel, added a bit of water and shook it up. Then I used a paint brush to color him in and it worked!! I am so excited! It's a little more work than using the markers but it has excellent results!

Cinnamoroll

I didn't have a plan for today until I saw Lia Chen has said that Cinnamoroll is her favorite Sanrio character. Perfect! I showed it to Kidlet and he was very excited! I was going to use our little Cinnamoroll box for his snack today but when he saw it he insisted that despite it's tiny size, it must contain the bento lunch!


So little Cinnamoroll is cheese on top of a soy ham sandwich. On the side are clementine wedge, grapes, tiny checkered apple, and pretzels.

Keroppi

Kidlet loved his Pankunchi bento so much that I thought I would do a few more Sanrio friends. Here is Keroppi!

Keroppi is cheese and food color markers on a tofurkey sandwich. On the side are grapes, clementine wedges, green beans, and pretzels. There is a little kitty pick sitting on the oranges, just for fun :D

Pankunchi

Pankunchi is a Sanrio character of a Panda who loves to eat Bread! His two best friends are bread and when he gets hungry they get nervous and rush him away to some food to eat! Kidlet and Pankunchi are kindred spirits because he loves bread!

Pankunchi of cheese and food color marker sits on leftover pasta bake. On the bottom are two boca nuggets, container of ketchup, green beans, clementine segments, and an apple. I tried a new kind of fancy apple today and Kidlet loved it! It was much harder than checkers tho! I messed two of them up and nearly cut off my finger before getting this one!
